Apple guerilla publicity stunt.
so for all of the great stuff apple does with UI, sometimes they just do dumb things. like animating the stripes on the progress bar to perpetually move backwards.
why in the world would anything think this was a good idea? so that if my download lags i can give myself a headache trying to figure out if that bar is moving a few pixels or not? so that it looks like it’s moving faster? wtf?
